Terms of Use

The rules that apply when you use Ask Wakefield, submit information or rely on local directory content.

Last updated 16 September 2026
Important: Ask Wakefield is an independent local information service operated by Mediahubink Limited. It is not Wakefield Council and is not an official emergency, legal, medical or safeguarding service.

1. Using Ask Wakefield

You may use Ask Wakefield for lawful personal, community and business information purposes. You must not attempt to misuse the service, interfere with its operation, bypass security controls, overload its systems, submit malicious code, impersonate another person or use the service to facilitate unlawful activity.

2. AI answers and current information

Ask Wakefield uses artificial intelligence. AI can misunderstand questions, combine facts incorrectly or return information that is incomplete or out of date. We try to check changing facts against trusted sources where appropriate, but we do not guarantee that every answer is accurate, complete or current.

For council services, planning, legal rights, health, safety, transport timetables, prices, opening hours, availability and other important matters, check the original provider or official source before acting.

3. Listings are source checked, not endorsed

Where a listing is described as source checked, this means Ask Wakefield has checked key listing details against a provider website, social account or another source we consider useful. It does not mean Mediahubink has inspected, accredited, licensed, insured, DBS-checked or endorsed the provider.

Parents and carers remain responsible for checking that a children's activity is suitable. This can include asking the provider about safeguarding arrangements, qualifications, supervision, insurance, accessibility, age suitability and any checks required for staff or volunteers.

4. Events, prices, spaces and availability

Events can be cancelled, sessions can fill up, businesses can close and prices can change. Always confirm directly with the provider before travelling, paying or relying on a place being available.

5. User-submitted content

When you submit an event, club, activity, business or other material, you confirm that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge, that you have the right or appropriate permission to submit it, and that publication will not infringe another person's rights.

You give Mediahubink Limited permission to review, edit for clarity and house style, verify, reproduce and publish the submitted public-facing information on Ask Wakefield and related Ask Wakefield promotional material. You keep ownership of material you own.

Submission does not guarantee publication. We may refuse, edit, suspend or remove a listing where it is inaccurate, stale, unlawful, unsafe, misleading, duplicative, unsuitable for the service or otherwise not in the interests of users.

6. Sponsored and featured listings

Paid or featured placements will be clearly identified, for example with labels such as Sponsored, Advertisement or another clear commercial label. Paying for visibility does not buy an undisclosed recommendation from the AI assistant and does not guarantee leads, bookings, sales or a particular ranking in ordinary answers.

7. Third-party websites

Ask Wakefield links to councils, venues, clubs, transport providers, businesses and other third-party websites. Those sites are responsible for their own content, terms, privacy practices and availability. A link does not by itself mean Mediahubink endorses the third party.

8. Intellectual property

The Ask Wakefield name, site design, original text, software and branding belong to Mediahubink Limited or are used with permission, except for third-party names, marks, submitted materials and linked content that remain the property of their respective owners.

You may link to public Ask Wakefield pages. You may not copy substantial parts of the site, scrape the directory at scale, reproduce the service as your own, or use our branding in a way that suggests affiliation without permission.

9. Liability

Ask Wakefield is provided as a local information and discovery service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mediahubink Limited is not responsible for losses caused by reliance on incorrect or outdated third-party information, changes made by providers after we checked a source, or the acts and omissions of listed organisations.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer or other law.

10. Changes and availability

We may change, suspend or withdraw features, listings or parts of Ask Wakefield. We may also update these terms. Continued use after an update means the current terms apply to future use.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
