Cookies & Storage

A plain-English explanation of the cookies and similar browser technologies used by Ask Wakefield.

Last updated 16 September 2026
Current position: Ask Wakefield uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to understand aggregate traffic and real-world site performance. These tools are configured through Vercel and do not rely on advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies. We do not use advertising pixels on the public site.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small pieces of information stored on a device. Websites can also use similar technologies such as local storage or session storage. UK rules generally require clear information and, for non-essential storage or access technologies, consent before they are used.

2. What Ask Wakefield currently uses

Ask Wakefield uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure aggregate page visits and referral information, and Vercel Speed Insights to measure real-world site performance such as Core Web Vitals. These tools are used to understand how the public site is used and whether it performs well. They are not used by Ask Wakefield for behavioural advertising or cross-site profiling.

We may also use strictly necessary technical functionality required to deliver, secure or operate the service. Our hosting and infrastructure provider may process ordinary technical request information such as IP addresses, device/browser details and timestamps as part of operating and securing its services.

The private admin area may use temporary browser session storage to support an authorised admin session. We intentionally do not load the public analytics and speed-insight scripts on the admin page.

3. Third-party content and links

We link to external websites, including councils, venues, clubs and businesses. If you follow a link, the destination site may use its own cookies or tracking technologies. Their cookie and privacy notices apply once you leave Ask Wakefield.

Our pages also load web fonts from Google Fonts. Technical connection information may be sent to that service when your browser requests the font files.

4. Advertising and future tracking

We do not currently use advertising pixels or behavioural advertising trackers on Ask Wakefield. If we introduce technologies that require consent under UK privacy rules, we will update this notice and provide consent controls before activating them where required.

5. Browser controls

You can control cookies and stored website data through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary technology can affect whether parts of a website work correctly.

6. Contact
